Fees and Payment

Session Investment

My standard rate for a 50-minute session is $100 for an individual and $130 for a couple / family. Below you’ll find more information about Fees and Payment for these services.

I offer a sliding scale fee for a limited number of clients based on household income. This is part of my commitment to making high-quality family and marriage therapy more accessible. Your specific fee will be determined during your initial phone consultation and typically requires proof of income. Please discuss this option with me when you reach out to see if a sliding scale spot is currently available. In discussing pricing, it’s important to highlight that the details around payment and fees are always made clear.

Forms of Payment

I accept a variety of payment methods for your convenience. Payment is due at the time of service. Additionally, clarity about fees and payment helps ensure you understand all your options.

  • Credit/Debit Cards: MasterCard, Visa, and American Express.
  • Health Savings Accounts (HSA) / Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): I gladly accept HSA and FSA cards, as therapy is a qualified medical expense.
  • Traditional Methods: Personal checks and cash.

Insurance and Out-of-Network Benefits

I am an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly at this time. Please note how these policies impact your fees and payment responsibilities.

This means I do not communicate with insurance companies, which ensures your treatment remains confidential and allows us to focus entirely on the goals and timeline that are best for your family, not limited by an insurance plan.

How You Can Still Use Your Insurance:

If your insurance plan offers Out-of-Network (OON) mental health benefits, you may be able to get a significant portion of the session fee reimbursed. Understanding your payment and fees options with insurance is helpful before starting therapy.

  1. I Provide a Superbill: I will provide you with a Superbill (a detailed receipt of services) at the end of each month.
  2. You Submit the Claim: You submit this Superbill directly to your insurance company.
  3. You Get Reimbursed: Your insurance company sends a reimbursement check directly to you.

To check your OON benefits, please call your insurance provider and ask the following questions: It is a good idea to clarify the fees and payment aspects before your session starts.

“What is the reimbursement rate (e.g., 60% or 80%) after my deductible is met?”

“Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health services (CPT code 90837 for individual therapy or 90847 for family/couples therapy)?”

“What is my deductible for out-of-network benefits, and has it been met?”
